Connie Suárez-Nistal was born in Asturias, Spain, in December 1958. During her childhood, she emigrated with her family to South Africa, after a brief stay in Brazil. She completed her entire school education in British English, from primary through secondary school.

At almost eighteen and still underage, she returned to Spain with her family—a return she could neither choose nor avoid, despite her longing to remain abroad. Spain became her home by circumstance rather than desire, and there she has lived ever since. She first stepped into professional life as a bilingual secretary, but it was in teaching English—guiding others through the language that shaped her childhood—where she spent most of her working years.

Her interest in writing began at an early age, but it wasn’t until 2021—after the COVID-19 pandemic—that she started writing consistently. Since then, she has focused primarily on writing romantic fiction novels.

Her fiction stories are inspired by the depth of her characters, which originate from an initial source of inspiration conceived during her adolescence but thwarted by adverse circumstances. Years later, Connie rediscovered that source of inspiration and was finally able to fully develop it.

She currently publishes her work in both Spanish and English, a reflection of her bilingual soul. In her stories, diverse cultural worlds intertwine, giving life to characters drawn with depth and sensitivity. Through them, she seeks to move readers with plots that whisper of destiny and evoke the quiet certainty of what is “meant to be.”

Though her stories are rooted in romance and the quiet magic of “meant to be” moments, they often pulse with action, suspense, and intrigue. Her novels weave together tender relationships with high-stakes tension, secret motives, and edge-of-your-seat twists—creating tales that are as emotionally resonant as they are thrilling.

Hello. I’m writing my memoirs — my autobiography.

As I wander through the deepest corners of my memory — the places where I once believed nothing remained — I am discovering that the past never truly disappears. It simply reshapes itself into stories… and sometimes, almost without asking permission, into history. And so, a very special book is quietly beginning to take shape.

In it, I will share my “secrets”… though in truth, they are not secrets at all. I don’t really have secrets. What I have are untold stories, experiences few would ever imagine, and emotions that time has preserved with gentle, patient care.

But it is not time to publish them yet. Every story needs to ripen. And time — which so often knows better than we do — will tell me when the moment comes to open that door.

Please don’t expect heroic feats or epic adventures. The title might be something like A Faded Life… or perhaps A Life in the Background. It could even become A Life Unseen. I don’t know yet. Any of them might softly suggest what my journey has been.

And yet, perhaps no title could truly capture what it means to live quietly, to feel deeply, and to endure without making noise. There are lives that never make headlines, never stand beneath bright lights — and still, they burn intensely in the privacy of all that remains unspoken.

In the meantime, I would love to share a brief glimpse of something that truly excites me — a part of my biography that I will explore in full in the book, once it is published. There is still some time before that happens.

For now, let me offer a small advance: how this “second life” began — my life as a novelist.

Yes. Today I can say it calmly, without hesitation: I am a novelist. That is how I define myself. That is how I feel.

After retirement, this passion gently found its place in my days, at a time when it seemed the main chapter had already been written… and yet the most authentic one was only just beginning. Writing is a vocation without age, without retirement, without an expiration date. As long as memory continues to offer its images and the heart keeps beating with emotion, I will keep writing.

Because writing is not a hobby — it is a way of being. It is how I express myself, since I was never gifted at public speaking… and I’m not especially fond of the sound of my own voice either. 😁

And while you read me, I feel a little less alone on this journey.
